Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 isn’t the only game set in the World of Darkness IP that’s due for release in the near future. Paradox Interactive is also working with Draw Distance to adapt the 5th edition of Vampire: The Masquerade into a new game. The setup is actually very familiar, but it has a lot of potential for divergence and bloody good fun.
You will play as a newly minted vamp, lost in the sprawling concrete jungle that is New York City. The city is currently playing host to the same strife and struggle that plagues Seattle in this setting, the eternal conflict between the anti-authoritarian Anarchs and the traditionalist and secretive Camarilla.
It’s into this world of death, deception and undeath that you’re thrust, and who you know is just as important as what you know in this world. So building alliances with the humans, vampires, ghouls and other inhabitants of this spooky rendition of NYC will be very important.

The game won’t feature the massive scope and scale of other more fleshed-out entries in the franchise, like Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2, but it does have some very appealing aspects. And although gameplay elements and what the story is beyond the basic setup is vague, the game is being billed as a “unique, atmospheric, single-player narrative experience”. This could mean a lot of things, but the WoD IP has a ton of hidden depth and flexibility, so Paradox and Draw Distance are only really limited by their imagination.
The game will feature full character customization as well as the Disciplines fans of the source material know quite well. The game even has a branching story with an NPC reputation system and multiple endings. These should offer a fair bit of replayability as well.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York is due to launch on PC and the Nintendo Switch in Q4 2019.
