How to catch a Spider Crab in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Spider Crab in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The new patch that went live this week in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is pretty cool. You can stay cool in the Summer heat by taking a dip in the water. And while you’re there, try hunting down some creatures and treasure. One such creature that can be quite hard to find is the Spider Crab in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

And with the Summer update, there’s tons of stuff to do. The patch is adding diving and swimming, but that’s not all. Along with all the new stuff, there’s also a large population of deep-sea creatures coming to your island as well. And when you’re out hunting sea creatures, try stopping by with Pascal and see if you can get any of the Mermaid DIY Recipes from them.

The Spider Crab in Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been added to islands as a potential deep water spawn. You cannot get the Spider Crab as a fishing catch, you have to pluck it out of the water while diving. It is one of the many sea creatures you can bring to Blathers, or sell in the Nook Shop. And it’s also really pretty, so if you’re into just having some cool creatures around, it might be for you.

The Spider Crab can be found at any time of the day, between March and April in the northern hemisphere, and between December and March in the southern hemisphere. To catch them, you will need to go swimming and then dive down where you will be able to see some shadows.

You just need to equip the Swimsuit, bought from the Nook Terminal for  3,000 Bells, and hit A nearby to the water. You will hop in and be able to swim around. When you see a shadow, swim over to it, and hit Y, you will dive down under the water and can begin hunting your prey. There are 40 new sea creatures in the game, so it won’t always be a Spider Crab, but you will catch plenty of other creatures in the meantime. You could also find some incredibly rare Pearls as well, worth lots of Bells.
