How to get pearls in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

And with the Summer update, there’s tons of stuff to do. The patch is adding diving and swimming, but that’s not all. Along with all the new stuff, there’s also a large population of deep-sea creatures coming to your island as well. And when you’re out hunting sea creatures, try stopping by with Pascal and see if you can get any of the Mermaid DIY Recipes from them.

But you will need to do some swimming to actually get to the new content. Head over to Pascal, your new otter neighbor, and strike up a conversation. They will tell you about the new swimming mechanics and send you on your way with a fresh new swimsuit. From there you can swim and dive around your island for various bits and creatures, including pearls in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The pearls in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are a rare spawn added in the Summer update which are used in a variety of DIY Recipes and other things. You use them to craft a bunch of stuff, plus they’re worth a fair few Bells. You can gather and sell them for a nice chunk of change. So here’s how to get them in a reliable quantity.

The pearls in Animal Crossing: New Horizons won’t be easy to find, but there are a couple of ways to help ensure they spawn.

The first method is to get them from Pascal, a red otter you can interact with once a day when you obtain a scallop. There is a chance each day you will get rare drops like Pearls and DIY Recipes themed after the event. This drop also has a chance of giving out a pearl as well. And if you use the time travel glitch with an offline Switch, you can easily check multiple times a day for Pearls.

You could also go swimming around the island digging for them, but that takes a lot of time. Random pearl spawns can be found around the ocean when diving. Look for the small black dots as shadows, these are usually Pearls.

Once you have your pearl, you can take it to your workbench to craft any of the available items from the new patch.
