Blizzard has announced Galakrond’s Awakening, as part of the Descent of Dragons storyline. The new solo adventure also ties into the ongoing E.V.I.L. arc, and will conclude that story conflict at the the final chapter of the adventure. The League of E.V.I.L. and the League of Explorers will finally finish their fight once and for all. Like the Dalaran Heist, Tombs of Terror and other solo adventures, players pick a starting hero and battle through randomly selected encounters. Expect some new gameplay mechanics. As someone who still hops into the Solo Adventures from time to time thanks to this added replayability and randomness, it’s a great concept, and it will likely be just as enjoyable in Galakrond’s Awakening.
The story is a pretty interesting one. Arch-Villain Rafaam has escaped the clutches of the The League of Explorers, after they defeated the Plague Lords. But Rafaam has an ace in the hole. The dastardly coward has control of the Plague of Undeath, and may plan to unleash it upon all of Azeroth, unless his rivals can stop him.
And yes, there’s new cards to unlock as well. Galakrond’s Awakening includes 35 new cards that can be earned by playing through the adventure. Players who purchase the adventure will also get a free card. You can get a glimpse of some of these cards in the official Hearthstone blog post.
Check out Galakrond’s Awakening in the new trailer for the adventure below. The chapters are priced individually at $6.99 or 700 Gold; or you can purchase the entire Solo Adventure for $19.99. And as usual, the first chapter of the adventure will be free for all.
