Days Gone showcases more brutal and gory gameplay at TGS 2018

Days Gone PS4

Sony hosted a stage event earlier as part of Tokyo Game Show 2018. At that event was not only more news about games like the Resident Evil 2 remake, but we got some new gameplay snippets of Days Gone as well.

Days Gone prioritizes player choice and creativity as a core gameplay mechanic. Sure, it’s a shooter that’s all about struggling to survive in a mutant-infested wasteland of a world, but it still encourages creative problem-solving. It’s just that the problem being solved is finding different and inventive ways to blast enemies to pieces.

In the game, there are multiple pathways either through or around every problem. Encounters can be avoided or you can try to shmooze your way out. Or you can even use a distraction to trick a horde of mutant beasts into wiping out the things in your way instead. There are plenty of these situations throughout Days Gone, and as the game progresses, the circumstance will change and become more desperate.

One of the unique tools you’ll have at your disposal to lessen the difficulty is Survival Vision. This triggered mode allows the player to highlight different aspects of the level and then string the bits together into things like impromptu traps or roadblocks to deal with hordes of enemies or other issues. It’s a pretty cool system.

Check out the demo for Days Gone from TGS down below. Days Gone will be released exclusively for PS4 on February 22nd, 2019.
