Cyberpunk 2077 joins IGN Summer of Gaming show in June

Cyberpunk 2077

The IGN Summer of Gaming has taken on new life and importance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The IGN Summer of Gaming event has become a small replacement for E3 2020 after the latter was canceled, and IGN is poised to make some big moves in terms of announcements. The showcase already has a bunch of game reveals and other announcements lined up, and now one more is coming.

CD Projekt Red will be bringing Cyberpunk 2077 to the show in June. This is good news for fans, as it seems there are a ton of people waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 to release. Cyberpunk 2077 comes out September 17, and it brings with it the possible ultimate evolution of a CD Projekt RPG. “CD Projekt RED will be bringing Cyberpunk 2077 to the show in June,” IGN revealed, as “preparations for Summer of Gaming are continuing apace.”

As for what to expect, that’s a bit unclear. CD Projekt has kept the game under a pretty heavy lid these past few months as they continue to develop it. The game was originally supposed to drop this month, on April 16, but those plans changed as the team needed more time to polish and refine the game. As of now, the game is slated for a September release as noted above.

The last public appearance for the Polish developer and their AAA game was at Gamescom 2019, and it looks like the game will in fact have something new to show this time around. There are hints of some new gameplay elements being shown with a focus on a new level that has not been seen publicly before.

As for what else could be at the IGN event, it’s a very packed roster. The announcement notes that “2K, Square Enix, SEGA, Bandai Namco, Amazon, Google Stadia, Twitter, Devolver Digital, THQ Nordic, and more” would all have something to show.
