Apex Legends Surpasses 50 Million Players

Apex Legends

So Apex Legends is insanely popular. So popular that it’s growing at a faster rate compared to it’s main competitor, Fortnite. Respawn’s co-founder, Vince Zampella took to the internet to make this latest massive announcement for the new battle royale title.

No one really expected this, the latest entry into the explosive battle royale genre has seen stupendous growth over the last month. In the first week on it’s launch, Apex Legends gained more than 10 million players. Within two weeks, those player numbers more than doubled, leading to the game being billed a certified hit, one that grew faster than Fortnite did at launch. It is important to note that Fortnite didn’t implement a Battle Royale mode until well after it’s initial launch, in 2017. Apex Legends has a long way to catch up to that monster even given it’s insane growth. At it’s peak, Fortnite managed more than 400 million players across multiple platforms. Who knows, Apex Legends may be able to garner that kind of success if it makes the jump to other platforms aside from PC and modern consoles. But only time will tell if that happens.

And with the game possibly heading to China, that growth could explode on Apex’s side of things. And with at least 11 new characters and a bunch of new weapons headed for the battlefield, things are about to get really interesting.

To celebrate this growth, Respawn and EA have unleashed another short trailer that highlights both the gameplay and community that has made this game the smashing success it is. Check that out below. Zampella’s statement can be found on EA’s website.
