The Ubisoft original XIII was supposed to be getting a full remake this year, although we’ve got some sad news for fans hoping to jump back into this quirky classic. Microids has announced a new release window for the game, which is now due in 2020.
François Coulon, Head of Production at Microids, said:
“This additional development time is needed to reach the level of polish we’re aiming for. The announcement was greeted by an overwhelming response from the community and we’ll make sure to deliver the best possible game to our fans.”
In the XIII Remake, you take on the role of XIII, and infamous assassin. Said mysterious character is accused of killing the President of the United States, and must clear his name. The adventure of intrigue and mystery is mixed with tense FPS action, offering a rather unique and campy twist on the genre that’s nearly as old as 3D games.
It’s no surprise then that the game, which was beloved by fans, was eventually given the greenlight for a remake. Microids and PlayMagic set to work, crafting a faithfully recreated version of all 30+ levels of the original shooter, with completely redone visuals to boot.
Unfortunately, Microids has not released any new screenshots or trailer for XIII Remake. And with only the teaser released so far, which can be seen below, a lot of people were left wondering about the status of the project. The remake was supposed to drop in November 2019, but that is obviously not going to happen now.
