Pokémon Go is all about taking a trip around your town or city and capturing a bunch of iconic monsters. Players can also take part in a variety of PvE and PvP game modes, as well as timed events. During these various times, Trainers get to have the chance of capturing special and unique monsters. One of the things that can help you get more spawns is the Incense.
The basic incense containers have a green top on them, and are basically a lure with a timer. The orange and other unique versions are limited in ther availability, and their focus as well. They usually only bring out one or two specific types of Pokémon. This method of bringing out more spawns of certain types is an interesting approach to events in the game.
What is Orange Incense in Pokémon Go?
Orange incense only appears when there’s some kind of event going on in Pokémon Go. Usually, they are focused around helping Trainers capture the event Pokémon in higher numbers. The basic version is a generic lure that increases all spawns while it’s active. Orange Incense in Pokémon Go is a bit different. It usually brings out spawns of certain types. For example, during the Diá de Muertos back in November, Dark-types appeared to spawn in higher numbers.
Niantic actually revealed this a while back, saying to players that “during Incense Day: Water and Dark Type, your Incense will change color from green to orange. This color change signifies that your Incense will attract Pokémon featured in the current event to your location!”
So when you see the incense smoke change color, be sure to pay attention to what types seem to spawn more often, as that’s key to knowing what to look for. This is done by the developer to help focus Trainers’ efforts towards event tasks, which often involve capturing a certain set or number of Pokémon.
