Warhammer Underworlds: Online will soon be jumping into a new realm to do battle. This week the new Warhammer Fantasy tie-in will be making the jump to Steam Early Access. Warhammer Underworlds: Online brings the Warhammer Fantasy setting to a new life with a new battle taking place in the Mirrored City of Shadespire.
Four different factions, each one vying for power, brawl endlessly in a new war for supremacy. The four factions are the Stormcast Eternals, Blood Warriors of Khorne, Deathrattle, and Orruks. Each one has its own unique units, as well as special set of abilities that make for unique playstyles. The story sets this conflict as a backdrop for a much wider war between the various forces of the world of Sigmar, making the potential for some truly epic battles possible.
The gameplay embellishes this strategic layer by adding in some interesting gameplay mechanics. The gameplay is built around a card-based system where each player has two sets of decks. The 20-card power deck gives your units their abilities, with different flavors and effects for each. Using these powers to complete objectives in the 12-card objective deck is essential to achieving victory. Although you will also have to make use of your universal and warband-specific cards to gain the upper hand. Winning matches earns Glory Points, which are the sing of how successful your faction is as a whole.
The developers are also planning to add new warbands, each with their own decks and abilities, later on in development. Expect plenty of DLC for this title.
