Splatoon 3 is indeed going to release this summer (in North America), bringing the sequel that many fans have waited for. New maps, new weapons and more are being brought to bear. Along with all of that, comes a new singleplayer mode that offers a lot more story this time around. Players are in for some messy fun. We can also expect the in-game events to begin anew as well. That’s just the approach that the team took with the last game, running multiple seasonal events in Splatoon 2.
“In the single-player mode, you’ll join Agent 3 in a fight against the unruly Octarians and discover the secrets of a mysterious place called Alterna and the Fuzzy Ooze,” as Nintendo put it.
In the new trailer, Nintendo shows off a new color scheme for a new team of cutey little warriors. Yellow paint joins the other mixed colors as they all try to paint over the arena. The core gameplay is pretty much the same from last time. Use a variety of weapons to blast paint about the place, then try to take out the competition. The strategy and tactics come in when you need to use your assigned color to get around the map, it’s a ton of splattery fun.
Coming on the tail-end of summer, folks get to join in on the action on Sept. 9. Splatoon 3 is available to preorder now. Anyone who purchased a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership can also play the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion DLC right now.
