We’re getting ever closer to the release of SoulCalibur VI in October, and the team behind it has been buys priming the motor of the hype machine.
One of the most-celebrated features is the new singleplayer mode called “Soul Chronicle”. This new mode is in the game as an addendum to the more traditional singplayer story mode. Set between 1583 and 1590 A.D. Soul Chronicle will tell the back story of the Soulcalibur series, reaching back as far as events prior to the Soulcalibur and pushing forward from there. This new mode has a fair few similarities to the Weapon Master mode from some console iterations of earlier games. So fans of that mode from back in the day will have something to sink their teeth into. Here’s the story trailer for this game below.
And in terms of gameplay, there’s a whole load of gameplay trailers and HD footage that shows basically all the new and returning characters in various states of combat and action. The gameplay we’ve seen showcases several matches including Taki vs Siegfried, Geralt vs Maxi, Kilik vs Grøh, Sophitia bs Ivy, Nightmare bs Zasalamel, and Xianghua vs Yoshimitsu.
Check out all of the trailers below.
And then there’s a pair of trailers/footage showing the newest major crossover for the Soul Calibur series. The badass star of the Witcher series, Geralt of Rivia. Both of these samples come to use from E3 2018 footage form earlier this month.
SoulCalibur VI releases on October 19, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
