For the 4th anniversary of the original launch of This War of Mine, 11 bit Studios has teamed up with award-winning writer Meg Jayanth, most known for 80 Days, to create some new story DLC for the incredibly dark yet strangely fun adventure title that simulates surviving in a desperate war zone.
The first of these Stories was Father’s Promise, which follows the increasingly dangerous search for a lost daughter. You follow Adam on a story of love, loss, sacrifice and violence as he does everything in his power to try and protect the things he holds most precious. Just like the base game, this story will reach out and hit you right in the feels.
Now, more than a year later, we finally get to see more details about episode 2, Last Broadcast. This new DLC will introduce new characters, gameplay mechanics and a new shelter to try and survive in. It’s all centered around radio broadcasting, so I can’t wait to see how 11 bit changes things up, should be very interesting.
Tomasz Kisilewicz, project lead, says of the project:
“surely it took us a while, but the focus was on delivering a deeply emotional story. The leading theme circles around the price of telling the truth. And we’re introducing a lot of new content. With different endings, new radio mechanics, new moral dilemmas about telling the truth that influences the world, new playable civilians and new sites of the city of Pogoren to visit. It has to be at least as good as the other stories you can find in This War of Mine. For this reason, when we got the scenario by Meg, we have iterated the episode enormous amount of times. We had to make sure that in the end, the community will have a story they expect from us and we can’t let them down. And now The Last Broadcast is releasing very soon. I would say “enjoy” but a better wording is actually ‘experience that’.”
Previously, the developers released several other pieces of DLC and unique scenarios for the bleak adventure game.
The Little Ones expansion added the ability for new custom story scenarios, as well as the option to play as a child survivor of the war-torn hellhole that is Pogoren. Then there’s The War Charity DLC and the previous episode of Stories, Father’s Promise.
This new episode will be priced at $3.99 USD. Due to the significant growth of this DLC, the season pass will change from its price of $4.99 to $6.99 on November 14, 2018. The Last Broadcast DLC for This War of Mine will launch for PC on November 14, 2018. The Last Broadcast will be available on Steam, GOG.com, Humble Store and more.
