Shortest Trip to Earth launches out of Early Access

Shortest Trip to Earth - Early Access Trailer

In yet another example of how to do Early Access periods right, Shortest Trip to Earth, is finally hitting its full launch after 10 months of its pre-release phase. Boy, does it feel good to get to say that every once in a while. If it weren’t for the deluge of other garbage in the games industry, one would be forgiven if they thought that the industry was actually dealing with some of its long-term problems. Anyway, back to Shortest Trip to Earth.

This roguelike title borrows heavily from titles like FTL, offering a tense and challenging experience in space as a trial by fire. But this game is actually much more than a rip-off of FTL, so much more. The added strategic layers of more visible stats like Evasion and Deflection helps make decision-making a bit easier, and that’s just the start of the depth this game has to offer. With the variety of crew members, modules and weapons to kit out your ship with, the developers have also worked in a deep system of customization and resource management.

Interactive Fate has crafted quite the interesting game here. Though it undeniably does build on a core of space exploration and space battles, the developers have introduced some new and exciting elements. It’s all really intriguing, and if you’re looking for a challenge, this might be for you.
