Shenmue I & II have no online features, stripped out branded items

Shenmue i & II HD Collection details

The Shenmue I & II remakes are coming soon, just next month in fact, and we’ve got some more details from Sega about differences from the originals and some new features. Most of these details came out from Youtube user Adam Koralik, who got them direct from Sega.

There’s plenty of good news about these ports to share. Loading times have been reduced so that area transitions appear a bit more seamless, making the games less of a chore to navigate. Players can also choose between modern and original options in terms of both control schemes and resolution. So if you want to run the games at either 408p or 1080p, the option is there for you. And for those of you that remember the Xbox version of Shenmue II, the bloom effect is an optional aspect.

And don’t worry, there are no in-game microtransactions, it seems the freakout over Sega ‘in-game purchases’ was unjustified as it was essentially items you buy with in-game money, no RMT involved.

There is some bad news though, Shenmue I & II won’t feature corporate tie-ins, so the Coca-Cola vending machines and Ryu’s Timex watch have been removed. Although players of the US versions remember those machines as Jet Cola instead.
