Star Citizen Alpha 3.11: High Impact Goes Live

Star Citizen Alpha 3.11

Cloud Imperium released new details about the next patch cycle for Star Citizen. Alpha 3.11: High Impact introduces a ton of new content. There are a bunch of new ships added to the 100 Series, giving a variety of roles more meat on their bones. Combat is getting more attention, as well as new weapons, are added to the game. A new inventory system is being worked into patches in this cycle too.

Alongside all this content comes some new trailers. CIG has been slowly expanding on features added in Star Citizen 3.10 as well. Expect more iteration on the backend and existing content as the months were on.

Chris Roberts announced that the singleplayer campaign for Star Citizen has been pushed back, again. Squadron 42 is not ready and there’s a lot of people wondering if it ever will be. it’s been 8 years and the game still isn’t all that finished or polished. It could be that the mess of feature creep has finally caught up to the teams. The beta for the feature has suffered perpetual delays going back years. The original release date of Q2 2020 has long since passed.

Here’s what Chris Roberts had to say on the new delay:

“The best answer for your question is Squadron 42 will be done when it is done, and will not be released just to make a date but instead once all the tech and content is finished, polished and it plays great. I am not willing to compromise making a game I believe in with all my heart and soul, and even though everyone (including me) wants Squadron 42 sooner than later, it would be doing a huge disservice to everyone working really hard on the project and all of you that are looking forward to it to deliver something that isn’t great.”

The newest teaser for the game will come with some very interesting reveals. The biggest new addition is a new space station that helps fill out the solar system. In this case, you’re getting a look for Squadron 42. The teaser trailer for Squadron 42 is a brief fly through of the Aciedo Space Station in the Odin system.  There is some bad news though, as the next phase of the singleplayer campaign has been delayed.

In addition to that, we also got a main trailer for the patch cycle, showing off some other content. Check out the main trailer for Star Citizen Alpha 3.11: High Impact down below.
