Shadow of the Tomb Raider shows off more gameplay prowess in new trailers

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Square  Enix is unloading all the ammo they have from the machine gun of hype for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. In the past few weeks we’ve seen multiple trailers and promotional videos for the game, and now we have two more.

First up we have the Stealth gameplay trailer, “One with the Jungle Gameplay Reveal”. This slow-burn gameplay shows how Lara Croft can go from being outmanned and outgunned to turning into an extremely dangerous killing machine. Using misdirection and careful timing Lara can take out entire squads of enemies in ruthless fashion. And since the game looks so visually impressive, these scenes of conflict take on a much more visceral tone.

The AI will coordinate their attacks and patrol dynamically, making them much harder to trick and separate from one another as well. This means that the player will need to be very aware of their surroundings and use traversal techniques and camouflage effectively to take down Trinity thugs.

Secondly, we have the “Takedowns” trailer, which expands on the brutal combat pace and tone set throughout the game. It’s short and to-the-point, much like the in-game combat itself. And thanks to an improved animation system and dynamic AI, the kills themselves are much more varied than one would expect. Players can use environmental conditions and layouts as both cover and convenient helpers when picking off enemies.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is stalking towards it’s upcoming release on September 14th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. And if you can’t wait, be sure to check out more Shadow of the Tomb Raider news and trailers. If you want to see more combat, check out the underwater trailer. You should also take a look at the Collector’s Edition of the game if that’s your kind of thing.
