The new game takes a both literal and metaphorical approach to its main concept, challenging the players to explore dangerous waters and elusive beasts in myriad ways.
Sea of Solitude is a title that takes this narrative thread and runs with it in an extremely beautiful game world. As you adventure through various locales in search of that lost spark that makes you human, you’ll want to pay attention to the beautiful vistas accented by a wonderful color palette. The environments are a sight to behold, and the story is very interesting as you take on both internal and external threats in pretty inventive ways.
The main character, Kay, will meet various vicious beasts throughout her journey, and its up to the player to guide her through these encounters. You have to overcome these problems both by understanding and defeating them. It’s an interesting twist on the “go here and fight against this boss mechanic” idea. Players unlock new areas to explore by overcoming emotional challenges and progressively revealing light and color into the dark and stormy world. This helps encourage exploration and give the player positive feedback on their progress.
