Psychological horror game, Dollhouse, releases May 24th
SOEDESCO has just dropped a new trailer, and a release date confirmation, for their upcoming horror title, Dollhouse. The publisher has now confirmed that the game will drop on May 24th.
The singleplayer aspect of this horror title is all about the creep-filled and unsettling journey of Marie, who is seemingly trapped in The Dollhouse on an investigation as she attempts to recover from amnesia. The layouts will all be procedurally generated, allowing the challenges of fighting your way out of the creepy and potentially deadly environs to vary each time you play.
The setting is a deliciously dreary take on a warped and decayed 1950s aesthetic, adding to the horrific dread you’ll feel while being chased around.
If you want to learn more about that story, go take a peek at the Dollhouse story trailer released a while back.
The game also includes a multiplayer component that includes tons of different features and gameplay loops, which is pretty cool. Players will take their highly customizable character online and attempt to survive increasingly vicious puzzles and challenges, with success earning you upgrades and new abilities. With more than 14 characters and over 40 individual abilities, there’s a lot of customization possible in Dollhouse’s multiplayer component. There’s even potential for a bit of meta-gaming with creating and perfecting the optimal builds for given levels or team compositions.
That spotlight on competitive and engaging multiplayer is something that the horror genre has been pushing a fair bit the last few years; especially with titles like Dead by Daylight really pushing the “games as a service” idea into the horror genre, a game set typically known for more immersive and story-driven experiences.
The team behind it is also running a beta test to stress out the singleplayer and multiplayer portions of the game. That beta will run on both platforms from April 13th to 14th. Sign up for that beta period over here, if that sounds like your kind of thing. Otherwise, just go down below and watch the newest trailer for Dollhouse. This new horror video game is due out for PS4 and PC on May 24th.
