Far Cry 6: How to get gunpowder

Where to get more Supremo-Bond in Far Cry 6

Gunpowder is one of the most important resources in Far Cry 6. Gunpowder in Far Cry 6 is used for upgrading weapons, everything from ammo to scopes and silencers requires gunpowder. It is therefore one of the most necessary resources to get your hands on. Without gunpowder, you’re not going to be improving your loadout very fast. So let’s look at the best places to find gunpowder and then what to use it on once you do have it.

Where to find gunpowder in Far Cry 6

Gunpowder is given as a reward for completing missions but you’re going to need much more than that. The best way to find gunpowder in Yara is through FND crates, stealing airdrops, and clearing checkpoints. Each of these is a source of gunpowder and they can be found across the map. They can be pretty hard to spot though, so you sometimes have to pay really close attention, and follow this guide.

Medicine is another good thing to hunt down. You will need it to expand your base. It’s also much easier to find out in the world. You might also want to go hunting Durable Plastic from enemy vehicles.

FND Crates

FND crates can be found all over Yara. Keep an eye out during story missions too because the locales that you visit during the course of your missions will likely have FND crates lying around. FND crates are big red crates that have the letters “FND” printed on them. They will also appear on the mini-map when you’re close to them so watch out for them popping up on it. FND crates always provide gunpowder.

Stealing Airdrops

Airdrops will periodically appear across Yara. Airdrops can appear as random events or as missions that you can trigger. If during your Yaran travels, you see an orange plume of smoke, that’s an airdrop. You will need to race there as fast as you can to get it before soldiers do. If you’re successful you will be rewarded with gunpowder and other useful resources. Airdrop missions can also be triggered via the red radio markers on the map. Each of these is an airdrop theft mission that rewards gunpowder. Just like the random events, you will need to race to the orange plume of smoke before the soldiers can get there and steal the airdrop crate.

Clearing Checkpoints

Technically, this should be clearing checkpoints, bases, and other military targets. All of these tend to have FND crates or caches of gunpowder, but for simplicity, we’ll focus on checkpoints. The process is pretty much the same for the bases and other military targets too. When you come across a checkpoint clear it like you would any other. Make sure all guards are dead and destroy the billboard. Then, look around for supplies. Gunpowder is normally in one of the buildings that are at the checkpoint. For other military installations like bases, there might be a certain soldier that has a key. This key will unlock a supply locker that should have some gunpowder and other resources.

Once you have enough gunpowder you will be able to go to a workbench and purchase upgrades for your weapons. Gunpowder can be used for purchasing ammo upgrades, silencers, and scopes. To upgrade your weapons you will also need durable seals, industrial circuits, or recycled fasteners. Make sure you’re collecting these during your journey too. They are all much easier to come across than gunpowder so you should consistently have more of those supplies than gunpowder, but only if you’re looting everything!

To get plenty of camp resources and other upgrades, you might want to gather up some Yaran Pesos. If you’re after a better set of gear, go find and upgrade the Supremo.
