Pokémon Go’s Winter Community Day kicks off

Pokémon Go’s Winter Community Day Begins

The latest seasonal event for Pokémon Go is now live, and mobile gaming fans and Pokémon trainers are really happy to get in on the snowy fun. The wintery days are aplenty now that we’re deep into the colder months of the year, and the world of Pokémon Go is getting into the festive mood with one final major event for the year.

The event will feature the stars of the latest Pokémon titles Eevee and Pikachu, along with Dratini, Beldum, Larvitar, and Mareep. These events also join up with the new tier of raid boss that is physic-type Cressilia. Plenty of other iconic monsters from the various Generations, including starters from Generation 1, will appear as special spawns during the event, and their stats may well be boosted. These creatures will also come with special moves that would be unavailable outside of in-game events.

Alongside these increased spawns for various monsters, other elements of the roster will be modified as well. Spawn rates for some rare or Shiny entries may be increased, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Niantic is also bringing in a bunch of bug fixes and other updates to things like Facebook integration to increase the social aspect of the game. Geofencing support is also being added to the mobile game, which is described as “the use of GPS or RFID technology to create a virtual geographic boundary, enabling software to trigger a response when a mobile device enters or leaves a particular area.”

In other words, Niantic is going all-out for the holidays with giving bonuses and powerful friends to Pokémon Go players.
