Super Smash Bros. Ultimate features 800 music tracks, many new characters

Super Smash Bros Ultimate has 100+ Stages

Smash series director Masahiro Sakurai had some new details for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate during the recent Nintendo Direct livestream. We’ve already seen the 100+ stages and new stage morph mechanics, and then we found out that there’s a new Limited Edition of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with a special GameCube controller. And now, we’re getting a look at the huge number of characters and music samples that will be in the game.

Smash fighting games have always been a series known for creativity and style in all of their various aspects. The levels, characters and music have always been beloved by fans, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is doubling down hard on making sure to deliver the best game possible.

First, Nintendo has revealed that this version will include music and sounds from most of the other games in the franchise. Overall, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will feature over 800 music tracks (900 including menu sound effects and more) across all of the different franchises and games that are bringing content forward. And because the devs know you might just want to listen to all of the awesome music, a music player system is being built-in to allow you to listen to any in-game music all the time.

Next, Nintendo had some news about new characters coming to this iteration.

There are four new characters coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after the Nintendo Direct this week.

We’ll get to brawl away with Dark Samus, an Echo Fighter to regular Samus. She hails from the land of the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Per an announcement on Twitter, the game is also adding Chrom, who shares a moveset with Troy. Chrom hails from Fire Emblem: Awakening, and was originally teased in a trailer for the previous Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/Nintendo 3DS.

But that’s not all, the director also revealed that Castlevania‘s protagonist Simon Belmont will be joining the massive roster as the next fighter joining the fray, alongside Richter. Richter was the protagonist from Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and they will be an Echo Fighter for Simon.

For those who don’t know, Echo Fighters are a special class of fighters that can be used a sub for another fighter in a match. Players can choose how to take advantage of these special brawlers. Echoes can either be stacked on top of their base version, to be swapped between mid-fight; or gamers can fight with the Echo Fighters on their own.
