We’ve learned that Far Cry 5 is a major success in terms of sales. In fact, it’s the fastest-selling title of the franchise with a possible 10 million units shipped.
Ubisoft did not reveal hard sales data, but according to investment firm Jeffries Group’s estimates, the game has sold 5 million copies in its first week. The SteamSpy numbers for the game show it to be a strong contender on PC as well. And even though CCUs have dropped significantly in the week following the launch spike, this is to be expected for most games.
Far Cry 5 is also enjoying plenty of success on streaming services, it currently has enjoyed hundreds of thousands of views combined on YouTube and Twitch.
Tim O’Shea told French site Boursier that Far Cry 5 is the first big launch since the Fortnite craze took over the world. The only Ubisoft game to outsell Far Cry 5 is Tom Clancy’s The Division.
Far Cry 5 is available now for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
