In Fortnite Chapter 3 Week 5, you’re going to be doing a bit more exploring of the map this week. You need to complete various tasks to earn Battle Pass rewards and XP. The week 5 challenges run the gamut from the mundane to the bizarre. Players have to do a lot this week, and try and find some rather hidden locations. One of the harder ones this week is trying to claim an abandoned tent in Fortnite.
How to claim an abandoned tent in Fortnite
The ability to go camping was added in Chapter 3. Players can now use these temporary bases as a way to store weapons and gear between rounds. You place a tent down to go camping, and can even upgrade your tent. But if you don’t use the tent for long enough, it goes into an abandoned state. Finding these tents and reclaiming them is the focus this week.
There’s no set way to find them, as the spawns are entirely dependent on where others have placed them. Try any of the major POIs that are a focus this week and you should find tents around. Logjam Lumberyard is pretty busy, there are bound to be abandoned tents to claim there. Other locations like the Daily Bugle, Joneses or other POIs are also a good place to look. Anywhere players are landing first after jumping off of the Battle bus is a good candidate. Be careful though, as these high-traffic areas are very dangerous early in the match, thanks to all of the players around.
Once you’ve found an abandoned tent, just run over and interact with it to claim it. You should get a notification when you do it, that will complete the challenge.
Once you’ve gotten this done, you can head out and do the rest of the tasks.

Then, after you’ve done with cleaning up the camping mess, you can move around the map and explore, or try to win the game. The rest of the Week 5 challenges can be done during these matches as well. So get out there and earn some XP.
