Road to the Ancient Lab is one of the early quests in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, but it seems some players might have trouble figuring out what to do with this quest. The Guardian is a very dangerous boss, here’s how to overcome the overall challenge and beat the mission. Link, Zelda, and Impa are being pursued by a rogue Guardian; and you need to go around and activate two more, this lets you beat the boss.
The first is found pretty much right away as you just follow the path around, but it’s the second Guardian that’s kind of hard to find. Once you find one of the rusted hulks, you run up to it and hit Y. You will occasionally be targeted by the boss with a bright red beam, just break line of sight to negate the attack. You can also trap the boss on the scenery, particularly in the fortifications in the center of the map. You can also let the NPCs keep it busy while you run around and deal with other things.
Keep an eye out for the small blue markers on the mini-map, these denote pathways up and down. You need to run around the level and head up the mountain and into the wooden structures above. One of the Guardians you need to activate is up there and kind of confusing to get to. When you activate you will blast off the armor.
When you have shot off the armor on the boss, it’s time to finish it off. Use Cryonis and other stunning abilities to lock the boss in place and wail on it. If you can get the iceblock underneath the Guardian, you can flip it over and attack that glowing weak spot for massive damage. Whack down the boss and a cutscene will play. Congrats, you have beaten the Road to the Ancient Lab mission.
