Dual Universe is an ambitious project, while not in the same league as the massive money-spinner Star Citizen, the team behind Dual Universe is still hard at work, with a launch planned later this year.
What’s Dual Universe you ask? Dual Universe is a first person based space simulation sandbox massively multiplayer online video game in development by the Paris-based game development studio, Novaquark. It’s being billed as a “civilization builder” with a player-driven economy and full focus on immergent gameplay. The major feature that distinguishes Dual Universe from Star Citizen is that Dual Universe is entirely customizable to a minute level of detail.
Players can build everything from the vehicles, ships and buildings of their ideal world, even games within the game itself. There’s definitely an OASIS vibe going on here.
And if that’s not enough to excite you, Novaquark has launched a new round of funding using specialized Supporter Packs to bring in more revenue and to rev up the hype.
A variety of packs are available for purchase now on the official site, with silver level and above getting automatic closed beta access while gold level and above gets automatic alpha access. It’s worth noting that players will be able to simply subscribe once the game goes live, so if you don’t feel like dropping full retail price for future closed beta access, you’ll just have to wait longer to get into the game.
