Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 released earlier this year, bringing tons of space battle action and a bunch of death and despair to the joy of Warhammer fans. The sequel brought forth three grand campaigns, each focusing on a major faction within the Warhammer 40K lore. These campaigns offered both their own bits of the grander story, but also giving players a chance to alter the course of history within the lore by taking over a powerful and important new character.
Imperium, Necrons, and Tyranids are represented in the game, and now we got one more piece of the puzzle with this new update. And in the case of this newest expansion, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 lets players drop into the role of a commander of the forces of Chaos.
The newest expansion to the space strategy title lets you take on a pivotal role in Abaddon the Despoiler’s 13th Black Crusade, as Chaos Lord Malos Vrykan. Vrykan is the overall commander of the various splinters of Chaos, including all the forces of the four Chaos gods — Khorne, Tzeentch, Slaanesh, and Nurgle.
This position gives you a unique ability involving conquering a particular planet. Vrykan’s forces will have the capability to offer planets they control to one of these four Gods, creating a nexus of Chaos energy that warps the landscape and surrounding space. Doing this will offer in-game boons to your forces. For example, Khorne will offer a massive damage buff through insane rage.
Running through the campaign will also unlock various factions like the Traitor Legions. Chaos Space Marine chapters, including the Marked Legions (World Eaters, Thousand Sons, Emperor’s Children, and Death Guard) will all be in the game, with each one having their look and skills.
And alongside the paid expansion is a completely free update that brings some new features to the game. The update adds more secondary objectives for the original three grand campaigns. There will also be new campaign settings that allow for a lot more flexibility when running a game. Players can alter the economic and military settings like larger fleets, economy options and the ability to disable certain features that players don’t like.
Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2’s Chaos campaign expansion can be purchased for $12.99. It’s out now for PC.
