Fortnite comes back with Chapter 2 Season 1

Fortnite Chapter 2 Launches

Fortnite is finally back, after a short period of downtime wherein Epic took the game down entirely via a black hole in order to apply updates and introduce some new content. Earlier this month, Fortnite was shut down with a weird black hole that literally sucked the entire ecosystem an all of its content into a singular point, seemingly annihilating the entire game. No one really thought that the most popular Battle Royale game was gone for good, and fans were just left waiting, wondering what was in store. Now, Epic Games has finally revealed their future plans, with the launch of Chapter 2 of Fortnite.

The game has gone through a ton of changes over the years since it exploded in popularity in 2017. And with the launch of this new content, dubbed Chapter 2, things are looking a whole lot different. For one big noticeable change, the in-game map is entirely different, offering new opportunities for building and combat. Also, there are new motorboats that make getting around easier, as there are a ton more water features than there were before.

Combat is getting a fair bit of attention as well. For one thing, environmental damage has been added, so that means traps and hazards can now spew poisonous gases and other troubles you will have to deal with. The tanks that create these gases are also pretty explosive on their own, so feel free to get creative with that in your designs.

Other added content includes new skins, backpacks, axes, wraps, and gliders that are made for use in-game, all while looking pretty snazzy. And obviously there’s a new Battle Pass waiting in the wings. Epic sure is packing in the updates this time around. The update itself is pretty massive, so settle in while downloading it. The patch for Chapter 2 weighs in around 16GB on PC, around 9GB on PlayStation 4, about 19GB on Xbox One, and roughly 192 MB on iOS.

Chapter 2 of Fortnite is promising ‘more fun, less grind’ with regards to the Battle Pass. Epic is pricing the bundle at 950 V-Bucks, and offering a bunch of new content to boot. There’s a new set of rewards to be earned for playing with the Battle Pass, ranging through  bronze Battle, silver Scavenger, and gold Survivor awards.

Fortnite is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, iOS, and Android. Watch the official Fortnite Chapter 2 trailer below.
