The Witcher 3 Complete Edition comes to Nintendo Switch this week, bringing with it an adventure that has already delighted millions. Now it’s your turn to take Geralt out for some good old fashioned monster hunting. And yes, I said Switch, as in the Nintendo hybrid portable console.
And before you freak out and think this is going to be some pared down version of CD Projekt Red’s epic RPG, hold on. The developers have pulled out all of the stops to keep the experience as pure as possible on the Switch. Sure, some games have been poorly optimized for the platform, but not this one. The game has been subjected to some clever trickery to get it running at a relatively even 30 FPS on the console. Sure, the variable framerates and dynamic resolution kick in, and high-action scenes are closer to 20-25 FPS, but it’s all still very playable.
Players will be able to take the 100+ hour adventures of Geralt of Rivia on the go. And with the Complete Edition, you’re getting everything in one portable package. Yes, the base game, along with both the Blood and Wine and Heart of Stone DLCs are included. These mini-campaigns add into the main Wild Hunt storyline, giving players dozens more hours of exploration at hand.
And since this is a full recreation of the game, expect the full map and all the goodies within. And according to early reviews, the port runs surprisingly well, and is well suited for portable play, where the frame drops and slowdowns due to variable framerates are less noticeable.
The Complete Edition is available for purchase in both retail, as well as digitally on the Nintendo eShop. Check it out in the trailer below. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is also available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
