PES 2019 and Horizon Chase Turbo headline free PS Plus games in July 2019

Free PS Plus games in July 2019

Once again, PS4 owners are getting a few free games if they happen to be signed up with the PSN service, Playstation Plus. This is something that Sony has been doing for a while now, giving away free games each month to entice people to pay into premium services. There’s only two games this month, as Sony finally made the decision to drop both the PS Vita and PS3 from the rotation of free titles, leaving only the PS4.

And while it’s sad to see these Sony platforms go back to the dirt from whence they came, that means developers and publishers can focus a lot more time and effort on crafting powerful PS4 experiences. And with the launch of the PS5 incoming, we can likely expect that new console to start showing up in PS+ bundles at some point. But let’s get back to the point, what free games do Playstation Plus gamers get in July 2019.

First up is PES 2019, the latest iteration of the football franchise from Konami. This set of games may not have the clout of FIFA franchises from EA, but it still offers plenty of simulation fun and lots of stats for nerds to love. It also features myClub and Master League modes for those who want their own club career. It supports online play and local co-up with up to four players.

The second title this month, Horizon Chase Turbo takes the classic 16-bit feel of titles like Out Run and Top Gear and gives them a flashy new coat of paint. The game came out last year to favorable reviews, offering  plenty of racing action to fans looking for a bit more of that old-school feel.

Both games will be available to download from July 2 through until August 5. If you’ve not gotten last month’s games – Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and Sonic Mania – you can still grab them until July 1.
