Ash of War: Hoarfrost Stomp provides Cold affinity and the Hoarfrost Stomp Skill. This is useful for clearing out enemies with a blasting cone of cold damage. If you like flinging ice shards around, this might be the shield upgrade you want to hunt down. The item will grant Cold affinity, which scales Intelligence damage, and decreases scaling of other types. It also adds a special Frostbite status effect to attacks with the socketed weapon.
Where to find the Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War in Elden Ring
To find this item, you need to be in the Liurnia of the Lakes region. Check the map below for the location, if you’re having trouble. You will be able to get here quite early in the game, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find.
There’s a shallow body of water just southeast of Caria Manor that contains the item. The Ravine Site of Grace is the nearest one to this locale. This pond will have an invisible Teardrop Scarab floating within it. You need to look for the scarab’s footprints in the water to find it. Intercept it as it moves around and hit it. When you kill the invisible beast, it will drop the Ash of War. You can fit this Ash of War onto all melee weapons, except for ones that have unique skills that can’t be replaced.
