How does Arcane work?
Increasing your character’s Arcane levels have a few impacts throughout the game. There are a few things you can do to increase your stats, according to what areas you wish to focus on. Here are the common areas that Arcane takes effect.

- Holy Defense
- Item Discovery
- Arcane Scaling
- Certain Incantations and Sorceries that utilize Arcane stats
So what do each of these things mean?
For Vitality, the value you gain from each level in Arcane in Elden Ring decreases as you get stronger. The level at 1 to 15 Arcane adds 1 Vitality, further levels scale down your Vitality bonus to as little as 0.25 Vit. Getting to 99 Arcane isn’t that great, and you’re better off focusing on scaling your primary damage types for your build. The scaling for Holy Defense works very similarly. With +2 Holy Defense per level from 1 to 20 Arcane. The scaling drops off to 0.25 Holy Defense at 99 in the Arcane Stat.
Increasing your item drop rate is a huge boon. You can get some quite powerful items by boosting this stat. It takes a fair bit of work though. Every character has 100 base Discovery, and there’s a flat rate of +1 Discovery per Arcane level, so it’s pretty easy to figure out how well the bonus stacks.
The scaling for Arcane weapons and spells is pretty straightforward. The game has scaling ratings based on the base stats and upgrade levels of gear. Items can range from E to A scaling. With each higher ranking, you get more damage based on your current Arcane stat. As expected, any weapon, Incantation, and Sorcery that requires and relies on Arcane will increase damage, making them more potent in battle.
