There are actually a few training methods in Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX you can use to make your monster stronger. . At the start of both games, you have 12 different, free training techniques, that you can use. These last for 1 week and your monster returns at the end with minor stat gains.
Every once in a while, an NPC will show up and offer special paid training that you can then use. Monster Rancher 1 refers to this process as Training, while MR2 calls it Errantry. The more expensive process costs 2000G and lasts four weeks. Your trainee won’t be at the ranch during this time, so tournaments during this time will be missed. Be sure to plan ahead and not miss vital tournaments. The best reason to use this special training a few times is to gain new skills.
When you start to upgrade the ranch, you may also unlock new methods of training in-game. Also, when you rank up a monster, new more powerful training options can unlock.
