The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame Announced

Fans are probably not very surprised about this, but there’s another new LEGO game coming out. Warner Bros are behind the latest entry into the franchise which includes themed entries for Star Wars, Marvel and DC Comics, Lord of the Rings and so many more properties. This latest game will be based around The LEGO Movie 2 and will be aiming square for fans of both the source material and LEGO bricks themselves. The previous games combined have shipped nearly 200 million combined units, so it’s not surprising that WB wants to jump back into the swing of things.

This new game will feature many of the franchise conventions, with plenty of new elements thrown in. The players will not only have to hunt down a small horde of brick-based bonuses and secrets, but it will need to be done will rebuilding an entire world out of the tiny bricks. The gameplay will feature plenty of puzzles, challenges and other things to overcome as well.

The game will build on the story of the film itself, and will follow the main characters in a connected story, and will also bring in plenty of the characteristic wit and humor from the films.

Arthur Parsons, Head of Design, TT Games Studios, had the following to say about this new entry into the iconic franchise:

Players must scour the stars for rare items, materials and tools to complete their collections and help their journey across the LEGO® universe, experiencing a wide array of amazing environments, wacky vehicles and incredible creatures along the way. Packed with fan-favourite and exciting new characters, mysterious locations and action from both the sequel and the original blockbuster The LEGO® Movie, The LEGO® Movie 2 Videogame is a wild adventure for kids to explore.

The LEGO Movie 2 game is due out in 2019. The game is set to release for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC alongside the film and building sets inspired by the property. So all of this means that LEGO fans are about to have a ton of physical and digital plastic bricks to buy. Better start saving now.
