Sea of Thieves content update Shrouded Spoils out now

Sea of Thieves

Rare has finally unleashed the newest content patch for Sea of Thieves, and it’s a big one. Players will have a ton of new and updated content that enhances existing questing, enemies and other in-game elements to run through. With Shrouded Spoils, Sea of Thieves has made it far more lucrative to take down enemy ships, raid forts and do faction quests. The increased loot, new cosmetic items and other goodies are going to make players very happy.

So with the teases out of the way, what’s actually included in this update?

The big focus with this patch is all about putting “new twists on favorite encounters” as well as new riches and spoils. This means that all of the pre-existing content surround Skeleton ships, forts and other enemy encounters have been modified significantly both make them more challenging and increase the rewards.

The devs have also introduced a ton of new ship customization options to the game. Players can now create their truly unique custom craft and sail it across the open seas. New ship types are also available to the AI. A new skeleton sloop, a new ‘Battle of the Devil’s Roar’ skeleton ship skirmish and the addition of roaming skeleton ships round out the new AI combat encounters in this update.

Environmental effects like fog have been added or modified so that they’re more immersive and have a bigger effect on gameplay.

Other in-game events like the Kraken spawns have also been adjusted so they appear more often. It’s pretty clear that Rare is listening to player feedback about how the game is missing long-term content, and are doing their best to add longevity to Sea of Thieves.
