With the announcement of the Switch Online service, Nintendo has made many gamers quite happy. One such new aspect of the system was the inclusion of a trove of 20 classic NES games as part of the service subscription. And now, Nintendo has released a short trailer showing more of the games that will be released on the Switch as part of the service.
As far as games go, we see both current and future offerings. The opening showcases titles like Super Mario Bros, Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, and The Legend of Zelda. The trailer also details the way future releases of classic games will work. the release schedule for the next three months for the NES service works on a system of three games per month.
At the beginning of October, Nintendo Online subscribers will receive access to Solomon’s Key, NES Open, and Dodgeball. In November, Metroid, Mighty Bomb Jack, and Twin Boo will be added to the list. Then rounding out the year for December, Wario’s Woods, Ninja Gaiden, and Adventures of Lolo will be added to the service.
And contrary to previous concerns, the Switch will keep your cloud saves for six months after your subscription expires, so you won’t immediately lose access to your save data. And as expected, many of these games will be compatible with local and online multiplayer. Nintendo is even releasing some custom NES-style controllers that will work with the Switch console and dock directly. That’s pretty cool if I say so.
