Mortal Kombat 11 Adds Jade to the roster

Mortal Kombat 11 Reveals Jade as a New Addition

After already announcing a bunch of returning favorites and new additions, NetherRealm Studios came out of the livestream for Mortal Kombat 11 today with yet another new character. Well technically it’s the return of an old character, but fans are pumped out about the reveal nonetheless.

Jade is one of the classic fighters, debuting officially as a playable fighter in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Before that though, she was an unlockable secret fight in Mortal Kombat II. Her backstory casts her as a childhood friend of Kitana and a skilled assassin. She eventually came to be a general in Edenia. She was killed by Queen Sindel in a brutal manner in one of the previous games.

Her skills, as shown in the gameplay trailer down below, modernize her more iconic abilities and attacks for this new game. She still wields a version of her iconic staff, as well as a thrown razorrang. But unfortunately for her, it looks like she has been given the Quan Chi treatment by a NetherRealm sorcerer and now fights as an undead revenant. Her new moveset in MK 11 reflects this, giving her ghostly attacks and supernatural teleportation abilities.

Jade is the latest of many returning cast members headed to the next iteration of NetherRealm’s popular franchise The fighting game developer already confirmed Kabal and D’vorah would be returning as well. And this certainly isn’t the last tidbit of roster news for ortal Kombat 11 either. Fans will continue to speculate until the roster is officially confirmed as complete by the developers. Of course that won’t stop fans from wanting more content and characters as DLC though.

In other news, good news actually, NetherRealm is currently looking to add cross-platform play to their latest game. There’s also a kool Kollector’s Edition of the game, including a really great Scorpion mask as a bonus. Another interesting aspect of the game is that various characters are getting regional skins. Kano will have a skin exclusive to Brazil for example.

Mortal Kombat 11 will launch on on April 23 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch. We’ve included both the reveal trailer and some gameplay footage of Jade down below, if you want to take a look at that.
