Valorant closed beta adds South Korea, Latin America, and Brazil on May 5

How to get access to the Valorant closed beta

Riot Games has announced a new addition to the Valorant closed beta. Anna Donlon, the Executive Producer for Valorant announced that Riot has opened up more capacity for the testing period in some new regions. On May 5, Valorant will extend its closed beta to three new regions: South Korea, Latin America, and Brazil.

The 5v5 shooter has enjoyed an early surge in popularity these last few weeks with the first regions being added to the list of zones accepting new players. Gamers across USA, Canada, and Europe have been hoping to get into the beta, mostly by being glued to streams of the game on Twitch, but only a few have been lucky. With these new regions, it looks very likely that Riot will eventually push the game to every major hub around the globe.

Riot has even tapped into new datacenters located in Seoul, South Korea, Santiago, Chile, and Sao Paolo, Brazil. Donlon to handle all the new traffic and ensure solid connections. There’s also an ongoing effort to get capacity up and running in  Mexico City, but that effort has been slowed by the delays from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Oceania, Japan, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East are still on the waiting list for access, and I’m sure millions of gamers want to get in on the fun. No confirmations have been sent out by Riot as to when these regions could join the Valorant closed beta.

And in case you were wondering how to get access to the Valorant closed beta, here’s how you should go about doing that and getting into the closed beta:

  • Create a Riot Games and Twitch account.
  • Link your Riot account to your Twitch account.
  • Once you’ve done those simple things, all you need to do is watch Valorant streams on Twitch. If you’re lucky, you will be rewarded with a closed beta access drop. Look out for a notification like the one below.

Riot Games partnered with Twitch to hand out keys for the Valorant closed beta. It used to be that only certain Twitch streams had the chance to supply key drops, but that has now changed. Now, any Twitch streams for the game have a chance to drop beta keys, making it much easier to get in on the fun. Watching one stream is fine now, instead of having a ton of different ones open for the sake of a key drop.
