Insurgency: Sandstorm is a new shooter with an interesting history. The original Insurgency was a mod for Half-Life 2, and now the franchise is moving into a full standalone setup with its latest sequel.
Insurgency: Sandstorm is a collaborative effort between developers New World Interactive and the publisher Focus Home Interactive, resulting in a shooter that focuses on the action all while maintaining a nice level of immersion. The weapons feel weighty and powerful and fired, and the combat is fast-paced and fun. It’s also surprisingly easy to get taken out, so you need to be tactical in how you move through the maps. Speaking of the maps, they look better than they ever could have in the original mod, with some really great graphical and audio work put in to aid immersion.
All in all, the game is a great pickup for anyone looking for a new online shooter with some nice polish and fast action. The game features multiple online modes which allow for solo and group play. There’s also Versus mode, which pits teams against one another in either Push, Firefight, or Skirmish modes.
Insurgency: Sandstorm is to launch today for PC. It will be arriving on consoles in 2019. Check out the launch trailer for the game down below.
