How to upgrade Resident Services in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Resident Services in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

To do all of that, you need to lay the groundwork. A big part of that effort involves Resident Services in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This section of your island town houses the infrastructure management and upgrade aspects of your town, think of it like a city planner office. When you first plop down the building though, it’s just a simple tent, and you need to upgrade it, here’s how.

After you upgrade Resident Services from the rather plain tent, you then unlock the much nicer full building with more features. And thankfully it’s very easy to actually get there. To be able to upgrade Resident Services in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, first you need just five inhabitants on your island. Once you have the first five townsfolk, and that means you need them to have a fully upgraded house and have moved completely out of tents, you can upgrade the building for Resident Services.

As soon as you have met those five resident requirements, Tom Nook will make an announcement that Resident Services is moving too. The building will turn from a tent into a full permanent structure within the day. So that wraps up that part of building out your island, but there’s always more to do.

Those features can be used to change the layout of your island, as well as placing new structures.  You can place your tents, and eventually, turn them into houses. You can chop down trees and grow plants, and even work on upgrading your shops and other buildings. This is a crucial part of building out your island, so do it soon.

Although be careful, once you place down the Resident Services plot, you won’t be able to move it, at least as far as we can see.
