How to Queue Multiple Tasks in Rimworld

rimworld-1

Rimworld is quite the advanced, and disastrously fun, little colony sim. Who knew that running a colony of ravaging cannibals could be so much fun. Sending pawns out on raids and training herds of attack dogs isn’t the only thing you get to do, though, there’s a lot of work to be done. The colony needs food and other supplies, and that’s a lot of problems that need to be solved. This means working with the jobs nad specialization system.

Normally, you have to set tasks via the Work menu and let your pawns set them up and complete them at their leisure, but there’s a way to work through tasks in a more controllable order as well. When you want to queue multiple tasks in Rimworld, there are a few things you need to know.

How to Queue Multiple Tasks in Rimworld

To have a pawn do multiple actions one after the other, select them first. When you have a series of tasks in mind for them, hold down the Shift key and right-click on the task. Say you want them to butcher some animals in a certain order, just shift-right-click on them in the order you want them to be butchered, then assign the butchering task. You can see how many tasks the pawn has queued by selecting them and looking in their info panel at the bottom right. There are mods that make this clearer than it is in vanilla, so you may want to look into those.

There are other ways to handle this issue as well, namely by dedicating pawns to certain types of labor. If you are interested in having specific pawns for different types of work without micromanaging each task, this is pretty easy to do in vanilla.

You can further customize this menu by using priorities. At the top left of this Work menu there is an option for Manual Priorities. Turning that option on will allow you to set certain jobs as more important to each pawn individually. Anything marked with a 1 in its box is most important. The higher the number, the lower the priority of that task to that pawn.
