How to Make Scaffolding in Minecraft

Scaffolding is a block you can create to help you build taller structures in Minecraft. It’s a lot more versatile and pretty looking compared to ladders. You can use it to climb up to a higher block, but it also adds a nice look. You can use it for both building projects and make things look cool. The under-construction look is pretty fitting in this building-focused game. This particular block is also a lot more useful than ladders, thanks to its added durability.

In this guide, we will show you everything you need to know about how to make and use Scaffolding in Minecraft. Here’s what you need to know.

How to Make Scaffolding in Minecraft

You need two basic materials to make Scaffolding in Minecraft. Those two materials are String and Bamboo. You will also need a crafting table to make the recipe work. Place 6x pieces of Bamboo in the outer vertical parts of the crafting grid. Place the 1x String in the top slot in the center. Use the image below if you’re having trouble figuring the layout out. Place all required materials in the building grid and you should have your scaffold.

Keep in mind that your recipe book will update with it once you’ve done it once, making it much easier to repeatedly assemble more Scaffolding. Also, you can shift-click if you place multiple of each material in the crafting bench. This will make a stack of six Scaffolding each time you click.

What does scaffolding do in Minecraft?

Scaffolding is primarily used to let players climb up very tall structures. It’s more resource-intensive than ladders, but more visually appealing. It can also be broken down by breaking the base Scaffolding block. This makes it much easier to clean up once the build is done. These can be built into platforms that move upwards or sideways and can be placed on the ground, water, and even in lava, if you’re using Java edition. This makes them much more durable and useful compared to ladders.

You can craft plenty of other building materials if you wish. Bricks are a nice touch for many builds. You might need Ancient Debris for some more advanced builds as well. Newer additions like Glow Berries offer a bit more food options and potion ingredients.
