Final Fantasy 7 is a rather beloved game, and the finally revealed remake has a ton of people excited. The Final Fantasy VII Remake will ‘surpass the original’, and Square Enix president and CEO Yosuke Matsuda said, pushing a ton more hype and speculation about the title. Gamers of all ages are excited to see how the final product turns out, and with TGS 2019 going on this month, things are only heating up in terms of hype. The game will offer not only a graphically improved experience in Classic Mode, but also a new suite of gameplay tweaks that offer new challenges and some more accessible gameplay that’s less grindy.
In this newest bit of gameplay footage from TGS, we get to see Abzu, otherwise known as Aps. This sewer behemoth is a rather challenge boss from the original version of the game, specifically in the Midgar Sewers area. After falling for Don Corneo’s trap, Cloud and company are thrust into the sewers, whereupon they are assaulted by Corneo’s pet, this nasty sewage-spewing beast. Cloud, Aerith, and Tifa then do battle with the boss, having to contend with his deadly Sewer Tsunami ability that can deal lethal damage to both individual fighters and the whole party. We can assume that Fire is still the preferred element to use against him in the remaster, which should make the fight a little easier.
Some screenshots were also posted online, showing various iconic characters in the game. Tifa, Barret, Aerith, and Cloud are all on display in these screens, looking incredible, check them out below.
The Final Fantasy VII Remake is due out for the PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020. Watch the Abzu battle below if you want.
