How to get Pokéballs in Pokémon Go at home

How to get Pokéballs in Pokémon Go during COVID-19

Pokéballs in Pokémon Go are a pretty precious resource, and players need hundreds of them with all of the Pokémon running around. And with the worldwide pandemic of COVID-19 going around, millions of gamers are opting to stay home. Niantic, the developer behind the popular mobile game, has given players a way to collect this needed item from home, all without going outside.

The developer has enabled a few time-saving and protection measures into the game. Normally, players have to go out into the world and collect Pokéballs in Pokémon Go at PokéStops at major landmarks in their area. But because of the spread of COVID-19, Niantic has introduced a limited-time and one-time purchase for a single PokéCoin. This bundle can be bought once a week and includes dozens of different types of the various Pokéballs in Pokémon Go. Great and Ultra balls can be gained from these bundles, and their cheap price makes them a great buy.

If you don’t want to spend the $0.99 on 100 PokéCoins, there are more risky options. Usually, the best way to farm PokéCoins is to head out to Gyms and put your Pokémon in those Gyms for 24 hours. Obviously that’s much harder when you’re in lockdown, so maybe the purchase is the best option.

All players can now receive 30 gifts from their friends each day as well. This will make Gifts in Pokémon Go even more useful. These randomized boxes from people on your friends list in the game can be a great source of Master and Ultra Balls, which are really awesome for catching rare spawns.  Additionally, every player can now hold up to 20 gifts to hand out to other players. The one downside is that Niantic has not changed the game to enable collecting Gifts at home, leading to a shortage of new ones entering the game.

Developer Niantic could be bringing more updates to the game soon, so keep an eye out. The company could be bringing out new ways to find Pokémon or other convenience changes, so be aware of that, and good luck trainers.

As the coronavirus crisis worsens, it is vitally important to protect yourself and your loved ones during this time. Video games, no matter how awesome are not worth your health, so stay home.
