What is the level cap in Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

Final Fantasy 7 Remake brings players into a new and improved version of the classic JRPG, the game that defined a generation and a genre. The updated graphics and controls will feel like a breath of fresh air to long-time fans, but new players might have some questions. One of the many queries about the remake I see floating around is simple. What is the level cap in Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

As you progress through the story and gain power, your gear will go up in effectiveness as well. Final Fantasy 7 Remake brings back the AP and SP systems from the PSX version. Players will use the AP and SP gained in battles to gain two major upgrades. With the level cap in Final Fantasy 7 Remake set at 50, one might think that this puts a limit on your power in battles. Not so, thanks to the aforementioned AP and SP upgrades.

AP and SP work very similarly in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Players can still obtain SP to increase the power of their gear by spending that SP on leveling up equipment. And yes, the Materia system has returned, allowing players to unlock some stupidly powerful attacks, spells, and abilities by spending AP on their slotted Materia.

Of course, there have been some changes to the game. The graphics and gameplay will be much more modernized. With remixed fights and new difficulty options, gamers who fell in love with the first game will find something new to enjoy. Some other more subtle changes have been made as well.

The new combat system is a lot less subtle though, as the combat in Final Fantasy 7 Remake is much more reminiscent of the real-time systems from the likes of Final Fantasy XV. The new remake also makes story changes. The major beats are the same, but minor changes have made some fans upset. For example, party member Red XIII will be moved to a more minor role within the PS4 remake.
