The PC version of Resident Evil Village comes with a slew of graphics options to choose from, but one crucial thing is missing – the FOV slider. The base game doesn’t directly support this. It’s a big loss for those of us on widescreen setups or with other visual considerations. PC gamers have long been able to adjust these things, so not seeing this option in a big AAA release is kind of strange.
Being able to tweak the FOV is key if you want to see more of the world. But we would normally just have to deal with not having that option. There’s a workaround though. Another thing the PC gaming community is used to, is mods. Modding has allowed fans to alter games to their heart’s content. Now, there’s a new mod for the game that allows players to alter game settings and visual output.
How to change the Field of View (FOV) in Resident Evil Village
The mod is called Lazy FOV and Vignette Fix, and it has been created to allow for more customization of the game’s files. The mod also allows a few other things to be altered along with the size of the FOV. You can also change the vignette effect on various scenes. Modded versions of RE8 can alter the FOV and vignette, and have it remain at that setting between game restarts. Another cool thing with this mod is that it is update agnostic, which makes it so you don’t have to patch the mod all the time.
The field of view settings in Resident Evil Village (RE8) can only be changed with this mod, so here is how you can change them:
- Download Lazy FOV and Vignette Fix mod.
- Extract the files into the Resident Evil Village root folder.
- Launch your game, and then launch the mod.
- Adjust settings inside the app to tweak visual output of the game.
