Tricky Pokémon event in Pokémon Go explained

The Tricky Pokémon event in Pokémon Go is a special event in Niantic’s mobile titan of a game that puts the spotlight on little tricksters. The event focuses on Pokémon that can play tricks on Trainers, like Sudowoodo. The Pokémon Silver and Gold alum pretended to be a tree in the base game, and it would be pretty cool to see the ability worked into Pokémon Go. But this time, we’re getting another shapeshifted in the newest event.

The latest event features spawns of various monsters being amped up, with Gastly, Haunter, Voltorb, Sudowoodo, Aipom, Croagunk, and Foongus all being more common. Also, shiny variants of certain Pokémon will be common too.  Stunfisk is making their debut to the game as well. Most of these will be linked to field research tasks that are handed out during the event, but they can also be caught in the world at large. The event-exclusive field research tasks could reward you with a random encounter of a Stunfisk, Sudowoodo, or a Croagunk.

And yes, Eggs are on the table as well.  Aipom, Wynaut, Bonsly, Croagunk, and Stunfisk can all be hatched from 5-km Eggs during the next few days.

Since Ditto is in the event you need to know how to catch it, the Pokémon will take on various forms. The random spawns have been confirmed to take on a few different shapes, and we catalogued some confirmed ones below. Keep in mind that these are just a few of the possible Ditto transformations, so it could pop out at anytime.
