Destiny 2 Season 13 Explained – Story, new quests and more

Deep Stone Crypt Destiny 2

Destiny 2 Season 13 is about to redo much of the game. Bungie has seemingly gotten as tired as the players have of certain aspects of the game. When that weekly reset hits, players are going to flood in looking for new stuff to do. Get a leg up on the competition by focusing on what you want to get and knowing where to get it. Use this guide to prepare for all the incoming changes.

When does Destiny 2 Season 13 start?

February 9, 2021 is the release date of the new content. Destiny 2 Season 13 will deploy fully on that day for all players, although we don’t know what time exactly.

What changes are coming to the story?

Right now, we don’t know much. Bungie has been very tight-lipped about everything in regards to the story content for next season. There’s a new Season Pass and story arc coming, surely, we just don’t know what it all is. There will likey be new quests and activities that tie into it as well.

And speaking of new activities, Bungie is pushing for better rewards there too. Tokens are being removed and replaced with a core ranking system that hands out rewards at specific ranks. Early ranks will hand out Upgrade Modules and Enhancement Cores. Later ranks will have Seasonal cosmetics and Enhancement Prisms to give to players. So focus on that Season Pass and get all the content you can do, done.

Are there other changes?

Yes, of course, A lot of the reworks incoming to Destiny 2 will focus on getting players back into older and dead planets with seasonal content.

Challenges

The Bounty system is being reworked. Instead of infinitely grinding various tasks for the likes of Zavala, you now only get XP quests from them. The new seasonal Bounty system is called Challenges, and there are a bunch of them. Each week of the new season, a new roster of one-time quests will spawn. You can complete each Challenge once, and earn various gear and crafting rewards from it. You can also go back and grab any Challenges you missed from previous weeks before the end of Season 13. Various armor and weapon reworks

Moon and the Dreaming City will be getting some more attention with players being pushed into those areas to complete tasks and collect new loot. On that front,  Reverie Dawn and Moon Dreambane armor will be reissued to allow for players to get hold of it when they want in the new season. The spawn locations for Masterwork variants are being shuffled:

  • Pit of Heresy will no longer drop Masterworked Dreambane at full values, instead, it will have 7 armor energy and 2 +16 Stats.
  • Premonition (Pit of Heresy only), Heretic, Blasphemer, and Apostate have all been reassessed with new perks coming in rolls.
  • Waking Vigil, Sleepless, Vouchsafe, and Retold Tale have all been reassessed with new perks coming in as well. Specific perks can drop for these from Shattered Throne.

Refreshes of various loot sources, like Nightfalls will also be a thing.

Sunsetting will still be a thing for this and future Seasons. Here are all the weapons getting sunset in Season 12. So you better check that list and grab anything you’re missing if you still can.

K1 Logistics, K1 Communication, K1 Crew Quarters, and K1 Revelation have all been shuffled to expand the Lost Sector and change layouts around. These changes will focus on Master rotations as well.
