Games With Gold for May includes Metal Gear Solid 5, Vanquish, more

Xbox One

The list of games May 2018 Games with Gold has been spotted by an eagle-eyed Twitter user. And while these weren’t initially confirmed, Microsoft has decided to tease a bit earlier than usual as a result of the leak.

Check out the video below to see Xbox Live’s Larry Hryb (Majornelson) walk us through what titles are on offer.

There are a total of 6 video games available as a reward for Xbox Live Gold users in the month of May. Four of these are being offered for Xbox One owners, with the other two being put out there for Xbox 360 players to pick up.

On Xbox One, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and Super Mega Baseball 2 will be available. The Witness will also be available as well.

Metal Gear Solid V is a great addition to any gamer collection. It’s a masterpiece of storytelling that’s equal parts absurd and elegant. It’s a perfect addition to the Metal Gear franchise as a whole. The sequel to the original Mega Baseball is a much more polished version compared to the original, and it includes full online multiplayer support.

Xbox 360 users will be handed Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage and Vanquish. Streets of Rage will be available from May 1-15, and will be replaced on May 16 with Vanquish.

Including the Sega vintage games is cool for retro fans, of which there are likely many. And the fact that this version has all three games in the series is just extra icing on the cake. PlatinumGames’ Vanquish, originally launched 2010, likewise has a devoted following that should appreciate having it available on modern consoles. Although it’s a visually striking game and fun for a somewhat generic third-person shooter, there isn’t much in terms of replay value or added features that would make it incredibly appealing.

And us one would hope, the older Xbox 360 titles all work on Xbox One by default, so that’s good.
