Meeting Places

You can pull your pals on PSN into a lobby and race against each other. There’s also open modes that can allow you to engage in races as a group against other players. These are effectively custom lobbies that you need to invite other players to. There’s no direct match-making, so you need to organize games manually. The upside is that you have full control over track selection, game settings and more.
Sports Mode
For those who want a much more competitive feel to their lobbies, Sports Mode is your choice. The core focus here is on skill-based match-matching, and not a social experience. You also can’t fill up lobby slots by inviting friends. If you and your pals are on different tiers of skill, you won’t be able to play Sports Mode together. You can still earn the same rewards though, as you earn credits—then spend them on Driver Upgrades.
